Canadian Initiatives in Summer Seller Release

Over the past several years, we’ve been focused on building and strengthening our domestic market. This is a multi-year journey in partnership with you, our Canadian seller community, and there is good momentum on eBay.ca: For example, in the first three months of 2017 we saw double-digit growth in domestic sales.

Now, we’re taking the opportunity to lean into the momentum we’ve built together by launching initiatives that will support Canadian seller growth: We’re making new investments in our brand, bringing new selling features to eBay.ca, and launching new partnerships all aimed at improving the success of Canadian sellers. Here are some of the highlights from our Summer Seller Release:

  • Marketing Investments – A multi-channel brand campaign, including TV advertising, to increase Canadian consumer awareness and consideration of eBay
  • eBay Bucks – The re-launch of our rewards program will increase Canadian buyer engagement and activity
  • New Homepage on eBay.ca – Coming soon, the new homepage will give Canadian shoppers a more personal shopping experience
  • eBay Gift Cards – Our first-ever Canadian gift card will create new opportunities for consumers to shop on eBay
  • Promoted Listings –  Sellers will gain a low-risk way to boost visibility and sales for listings created on eBay.ca
  • Shippo Shipping Labels – A new shipping label platform for eBay.ca

We are also making changes to better reflect how we manage and operate our platform in Canada: On July 1, 2017, we will be changing the contracting party for Canadian residents and businesses from eBay International AG to eBay Canada Limited, a Canadian corporation. As a result, starting on July 1st, sales tax (GST/HST/QST) will be charged on eBay fees.  Learn more here.

We’ll be hosting a webinar at 1:00 p.m. EST on May 25th to provide further information on the above changes and answer questions you may have. Click here to register.

As always, we appreciate your continued commitment to selling on eBay.
