Final Update: Canada Post potential work disruption

Late on Tuesday, Canada Post Corporation and the Union of Canadian Postal Workers (CUPW) reached a negotiated settlement. The tentative labour agreements, which still need to be ratified by CUPW’s membership, put to an end the threat of service disruptions and ensure that Canadian buyers and sellers no longer need to deal with the resulting uncertainty.

Sellers who have put their stores on vacation, or who have zeroed out inventory, are strongly encouraged to return to business as usual.

eBay will monitor the situation, but unless there are major changes, we will not post further on this issue.

On a related note, we want to thank the more than two thousand sellers who took the time to sign the letter to the Prime Minister. Though the issue now appears to be resolved, the letter and resulting media coverage have shone a light on the critical role that Canada Post plays in facilitating Canadian small and medium business trade. In addition to sending the letter to the Prime Minister (to follow through on our commitment), eBay Canada will continue look for opportunities to highlight the significant ways in which Canada Post enables Canadian e-commerce.
